About
For the New Scientist Live festival 2017, BP wanted to showcase their seismological imaging tools using animation that would play on a mobile device. We were asked by our friends at Polar Media to direct and animate this animated film to help explain the cutting-edge technology in a beautiful way.
In the same way that Spotify uses algorithms to determine the genre of a musical track, BP’s seismological algorithms can identify many different features beneath the ground based purely on their sonic signature. We took this idea and built audio-reactive designs that changed depending on the music in the soundtrack, and building minimalist compositions that slowly undulate to reveal different landscape formations and rock types.
