Lightfield Studio were invited by Vincent London to create visual effects for this promo for popular BBC program Autumnwatch.

The most challenging aspect of the production was the creation of stunning murmurations of starlings in the final reveal. The starlings were modelled in 3D and followed an animation system that varied their motion depending on their position and speed relative to the rest of the flock.

Additional elements were created including matte paintings, sky replacements, lighting adjustments and a final grade applied. Check out the making of video for more behind the scenes development.
