Arms Trade Treaty
About
The Arms Trade Treaty is an Amnesty International initiative designed to prevent weapons ending up in the hands of known human rights abusers. It’s taken them 20 years of hard work, and after overcoming significant challenges, has finally been ratified as international law by the UN.
To celebrate this achievement, and spread the message further, Amnesty International invited Lightfield Studio to create a short film for the occasion.
Amnesty gave us free reign on the creative for the project, and we decided to push the film into new territory for Amnesty. Specifically, that we use the visual language of glamorised war that is traditionally found in video games and pro-war propaganda to make a film with a subversive undertone. Part Call of Duty, part Dr Strangelove. By taking this cinematic, commercial tone, we could deliver an important message and appeal to a broader audience who may not be as familiar with Amnesty International’s work.
